Yes, that’s true. Squash is very sweet. Actually my wife mentioned it earlier today when we watched an episode of Hell’s Kitchen, where someone mistook butternut squash and pumpkin. She was shocked and said: “How is it possible to mix the two? Butternut squash is so sweet.”

Sadly this time, a rather unexciting base for my vegetarian daughter…. I’m going to use it going forward though for a nice curried squash soup!
